Naomi has been playing piano and violin for eight years and teaching for over two years. She is currently completing a minor in Music at Western Washington University (WWU). She started playing at age 12 and quickly grew to love music as a way to create beauty for herself and others. Naomi plays many different musical styles on both instruments, including classical, sacred, fiddle, and modern.
As a piano student, Naomi participated in adjudication, Master Lessons, and competition. At Western Washington University she studied under Dr. Milica Jelaca Jovanovic and played in WWU’s piano studio. Piano compositions she has played include Allemande and Courante from French Suite III by Bach, Piano Sonata Opus 2 No. 1 by Beethoven, and Opus 118 No. 2-3 by Brahms.
Naomi was a member of Fidalgo Youth Symphony for five years. As a first violinist, she played advanced symphonic compositions such as New World Symphony by Dvorak and Mars and Jupiter from The Planets by Gustav Holst. At Western Washington University, Naomi played violin as a member of the WWU Symphony from 2015-2017, including works such as Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture Fantasy, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major, and Bach’s Orchestral Suite number 1 in C Major. She has also enjoyed playing modern movie scores, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, and Star Trek. She has also played in various quartets and ensembles.
Naomi has performed with her sister at senior communities and various events throughout Skagit County with both piano and violin since 2013. Performing in various settings has given her invaluable experience as a soloist and accompanist. Naomi also enjoys playing violin and piano at her church and believes that the most fulfilling way she uses music is to glorify God, the Creator of all beauty. Teaching since fall of 2014, Naomi is currently attending WWU, majoring in Chinese and pursuing a minor in Music. She loves performing and teaching students of all ages, inspiring them to love and enjoy music for themselves and share it with others.
